“I just think that some things are meant to be broken. Imperfect. Chaotic. It’s the universe’s way of providing contrast, you know? There have to be a few holes in the road. It’s how life is.”
— Sarah Dessen, The Truth About Forever
Nine weeks into the semester, and as the work load piles up like it normally does at this time of year, I find myself tucked away in the corner of The Curve's Starbucks, languidly sipping up their sinful cranberry white chocolate mocha frappucino, the newest edition to their Christmas offerings. I've got a small pile of journal articles stacked neatly in front of me, some covered in red ink scribbles & dashes of neon while others lay waiting to be read, but I can't bring myself to do so when I hear carols & sleigh bells being played all throughout the mall. It's barely the end of November and already Christmas wreaths adorn the railings of the corridors, heavily embellished Christmas trees mounted in the fronts of a number of shops & twinkling fairy lights coil around pillars. Usually I'd be thrilled that they've started decorating so early, but I guess I've not gotten into the Christmas mood quite yet. I've been here for a good two hours or so, taking my time flipping through the articles, even though I know I should make haste. However, all I'm thinking about right now is my bed that awaits me back at home, as I'm yet again sleep deprived. At the end of the week, I'll be performing in two shows at KLpac, each of which I'll be dancing three completely different numbers. Normally I wouldn't be so stressed about it, but with only two weeks worth of rehearsals (mainly because I was told of this performance only two weeks ago!), a deadline & an event to organize barely three days after the show, it's safe to say I'm quite frazzled at this point. People who've seen me in person have commented on how tired I look, despite my best efforts to look upbeat. Oh well, I tried. Maybe those comments I made about becoming a zombie really is coming true. I'll be sure to watch my words next time.
Oh, on a more positive note, I won passes to see Carven Ong's Graduation Show during MIFW'11 this Thursday (: Nothing like playing dress-up to lift my dwindling spirits.
